Finding the Duke of York Caravan & Camp Site
The Duke of York Caravan & Camp site has been around for a good few years. Yet, despite modern technology, we still occasionally get people telling us that they can’t find us physically.
So, to help everyone to get to the best camping & caravan site in Derbyshire (we might be a little biased), we have put together a list of all the ways of finding us that we can think of. If you use another navigation method which doesn’t work with the directions we have provided on this page then please let us know and we will add the necessary details.
New route to the Duke of York from the High Peak Trail
You might think that new ways of getting to the pub & campsite were unlikely. But, thanks to the Peak District National Park, the route from the High Peak Trail has been upgraded and is now accessible to all. The installation of a new gate means that the ‘horrible stile’ which it replaced is no longer an obstacle worth avoiding.
When measured on the OS Maps App the distance from the Trail to the front door of the pub is just 290m – less than 1/5th of a mile. Previously—if you didn’t fancy, or couldn’t manage, the stile—it was a 2km walk, to the end of the trail and then 800m back alongside the busy A515, assuming your were heading northwest on the trail.
Many thanks to Kim & Val for sending us some pictures (see below) of the route.
